Researchers from Cornell University claim that they managed to find an easy and cheap way to lose weight. According to them, to part with excess weight, only need to reduce the amount of dining portions.

Study leader Professor David lewicki and his student Carly Pacanowski studied diet 17 volunteers for five weeks. In the first week, participants ate everything I wanted. In the next two weeks, half the group chose for lunch one of the six dishes with the set calories, and the rest of the meals they were allowed to eat all they wanted and in any quantity. In the last two weeks, a second group of volunteers has adopted a similar restriction.

In the first 10 days of modest lunch, when participants consumed 250 calories less per day than usual, they lost an average of one pound.

“If you stick to the suggested diet in the course of the year, it is possible to lose more than 11 pounds,” says lewicki. He notes that after a light lunch, the subjects did not feel more hungry due to the reduction of portions. Moreover, they had no need to compensate for the malnutrition in other meals or on other days.

Research shows that meal replacement containing a lot of protein and fiber, lead to weight loss not because suppresses appetite, and because reducing the number of calories consumed. “In order to stop the development of obesity, we must learn to consume fewer calories. We offer an easy and inexpensive way to lose weight,” said lewicki.
