In the cluster M4 is premature death of stars.
A group of Australian and German scientists in a recent study made a surprising discovery about star globular cluster M4.
According to astronomers, some stars do not pass through all the stages of evolution, therefore, die prematurely.
Experts from Monash University (Monash University) in Australia and experts from the Institute of astrophysics of the max Planck society (Germany) with the help of modern astronomical devices found that most of the stars in globular cluster M4 die prematurely. This theory of astrophysicists seriously contradicts the previously established order of evolution of stars.
According to the head of this research Professor John Lattanzio, some of the oldest objects in the Universe are globular clusters of stars. Scientists for several decades trying to solve the mystery of their origin and main features, however every time I try to find something unexpected and fascinating.
The experts used in the context of scientific experiment multi-element spectrograph high-resolution HERMES. As it turned out, most of the stars are missing the phase of “red giants”, moving immediately to the next stage of evolution ― transformation into white dwarfs. According to scientists, it takes place millions of years earlier than expected.
At the moment the true causes of premature death stars in a globular cluster experts have not yet found, however, it has been established that white dwarfs become only those stars that are poor in oxygen.
