In the Altai mountains, experts will begin a study of one of the most secretive wildlife – manul.
In the National Park “Saylyugemskiy” of the Altai Republic will be the world’s first such center. Pallas ‘ cat belongs to the cat family, it is its wild representative. But most importantly this feature is incredible stealth.
The Pallas ‘ cats trying to avoid any contact with the person, so they are very hard to see with my own eyes. Most of the pictures were taken by camera traps installed in the habitats of this species.
Because of this lifestyle of a wild beast, scientists around the world are never closely studied wild cats, all the data about them are sketchy. In the Altai mountains organized the world’s first research centre for the study of Pallas ‘ cats.
It will be located in the National Park “Saylyugemskiy”. The study will take scientists from around the world, including USA, UK, Sweden and others. Among them are local experts.
The man’ula is listed in the red book of Russia. The species is on the brink of extinction, but precise data on their numbers is not due to the secretive lifestyle. We only know that in the mid 20th century they were actively hunting.
