The scientists extracted materials from the world’s largest of the Chicxulub crater, located on the Yucatan Peninsula.
This 20-kilometer deep hole was formed on the surface of the Earth due to the fall in the 10-km asteroid.
The purpose of this scientific expedition was to study the impact on the planet and its inhabitants collapse of the alien body of enormous size. Excavations on the site of Chicxulub started in the spring of 2016, but its views experts have stated only recently, thoroughly examining the samples obtained from the crater. The fall of an asteroid the timing coincides with the extinction of the dinosaurs that lived on Earth during that period, but scientists believe that the collapse of the space object affected not only by the death of large predators, but also to the disappearance of some insect species.
However, the researchers found signs of life inside the crater, which are represented in the form of microorganisms that are actively proliferating in this environment. They managed to get used to the extreme conditions that prevailed in the resulting hole, because their existence support a particular chemical reaction.
