Scientists from the US and the UK have proposed an equation describing the number of worlds, the life which arose as a result of spontaneous generation, and was not introduced from other planets. The research of scientists published in the journal Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences and available on the website arXiv.org.

The number formed per unit of time of worlds, the life which arose as a result of abiogenesis equals the product of four multipliers: the number are suitable for the formation of life building blocks (in the case of the Earth this is the number of atoms of the lithosphere, hydrosphere and atmosphere), the value reverse to the amount of these units in biological systems (the number of atoms in bacteria), the coefficient associated with the share of biomass in total weight is actually suitable for this environment and the probability of abiogenic (samozarozhdayuscheysya) events.

The ratio obtained by scientists, is a heavily modified version of the Drake equation, which estimates the number of intelligent civilizations in the galaxy or Universe. To justify its constituent parameters, experts used known data about the Earth and Bayesian inference.

Previously, scientists using a modified Drake equation estimated the likelihood of advanced civilizations on potentially habitable exoplanet, and the number of such worlds in the Universe.
