Astronomers in their research used Atomski submillimeter telescope. In the course of studying the Universe were able to determine that the coming signs of the presence of oxygen there are in the galaxy, located at a distance of more than 13 billion light-years from Earth.
Experts noted that signs of the presence of oxygen was discovered in the galaxy under the code name SXDF-NB1006-2. It was revealed back in 2012, however, about the possible presence of oxygen has become known only now. Scientists explained that the presence of oxygen in the galaxy, evidenced by the accumulation of heavy elements, one of which is also oxygen. They accumulate in stellar systems over billions of years, after which they formed from the nebula, later becoming a full-fledged planet. “Study of heavy elements in stellar systems gives a hint at the possible presence of oxygen. This may mean that in these galaxies there are planets suitable for the development of living organisms,” – said the scientists from the National astronomical Observatory of Japan.
