Scientists have shown a link between biological clock and country of residence.
Scientists have proven that the human biological clock can not dictate the time of going to sleep, however, directly affect the time of awakening. The study was published in the journal Science Advances.
The researchers studied data on more than 8,000 people in 100 countries who used the smartphone app, to help you adjust to new time zones.
When the researchers examined the average duration of sleep different people, it turned out that people in Singapore and Japan were sleeping the least – an average of 7 hours and 24 minutes per day, whereas people in the Netherlands were sleeping for the longest time – 8 hours and 12 minutes on average.
Although the difference in average sleep duration between these countries does not seem large, every half hour of sleep to have a big impact on people’s health, the researchers believe.
They also found that in countries that are geographically and culturally close to each other people sleep roughly the same time.
