Lack of sleep shortens the life

Недосыпание укорачивает жизньNight work is often the cause of obesity and diabetes.

The lack of adequate sleep affects not only the well-being and health, it can also cause hormonal disruptions in the body and disrupt the biological clock. At the same deleterious effect on the body have only one day spent without sleep and, among other things, this leads to the development of obesity.

Circadian rhythms are the internal body clock that “tick” even in the absence of external stimuli. However, despite this, their work is still influenced by environmental conditions, particularly daylength and time of year.

Such an internal clock is built in a special part of the brain called the “suprachiasmatic nucleus”. It contains neurons responsible for regulation of circadian rhythms of the body.

Scientists have found that in this way the human body fails to understand what at the moment time of year, and based on this it regulates specific genes that are responsible for the immune system.

The effect of long photoperiod on the human body

Work of the biological clock influences on our health and in terms of more short-term. Thanks to the numerous studies on this topic, scientists were able to conclude that under the condition of extending the day with artificial lighting and at night, work the hormonal system fails, there is a change in mental state, problems with sleep, and women experience reproductive disorders.
Also the long daylight triggers a failure in the cells of brown fat, which in the body is the accumulation of fatty acids and glucose. For this reason, developing diabetes mellitus type II and cardiovascular disease.
Due to hormonal failure due to lack of sleep, the body begins to “demand” to provide him with a greater amount of sweet and fatty foods.
Such studies have only touched upon a study of the health status of those people whose mode of day and night is lost because of overtime work and study. Later, the researchers decided to find out what the amount of time spent without sleep may induce a failure of circadian rhythms.

How many nights without sleep provoke the failure of circadian rhythms and the development of obesity

In the experiment, which was conducted by a team of researchers from Sweden and Germany, was attended by 15 people with no bad habits and chronic diseases. All subjects were a healthy lifestyle, adhere to the correct mode of the day, their weight was normal.

In the first part of the study, the researchers took each of the participants of the experiment, the analysis of blood, adipose and muscle tissues after all 15 people spent 2 nights with virtually no sleep. While sleepless nights were separated by a 4 weeks period, during which subjects kept their way of life.
After people participated in the experiment, spent the night in the laboratory under close medical supervision. Day, all subjects consumed the same food, and Nov slept for 7-8 hours. After scientists took tissue samples from the participants in the experiment.

It turned out that the first day awake was broken the usual amount of methyl groups to DNA. In particular, affected genes responsible for the biological clock. Moreover, genes were themselves in different ways to exercise in muscle and adipose tissue, which certainly indicates that the body is “out of sync” with itself. According to researchers, this phenomenon leads to disruption of metabolism.

The study authors are sure that only one day without sleep could disrupt the circadian rhythms. Thus, night work is often the cause of obesity and diabetes.
