Ancient mummies of a woman and two children were discovered by Chilean farmers.
Archaeologists from Chile informed the public about the discovery of three mummies, whose age is estimated at about a thousand years.
The remains of a woman and two children found accidentally by local farmers. This was reported in the newspaper La Tercera.
The source reported that farmers were doing their usual work, cultivated agricultural land, when they came across a burial. In it, farmers have discovered not only the mummy, which are mentioned above, but also children’s toys, as well as the product of ceramic. After that, the findings of the farmers invited the archaeologists.
Specialists to the farmers, conducted a full excavation, and previously found that the burial relates to the culture of Copiapo, which existed in Chile in the so-called pre-Columbian times.
Culture Copiapo Chile was inhabited from the 11th and 15th century ad. The results of the analyses that was conducted by the archaeologists showed that was found mummified woman was about 50-60 years old, and children 5-7 years. The scientists also explained that the remains are well preserved due to the fact that the body was wrapped in plant fiber and llama wool. Now mummies, scientists will study the capital city of Chile.
