Scientists believe that the bodies were exhumed between 1865 and 1958. At the time, introduced a new tax, according to which relatives of the deceased had to pay tax on a place in the cemetery, otherwise the body exhumed. In the end, ninety percent of the remains were exhumed because they want to pay such a tax was a little. Of these, only two percent of the bodies were mummified naturally. Mummified bodies, which were kept in a special building at the cemetery in 1900-ies were made available to the tourists.
