Galaxies in the Universe far more than previously thought

Галактик во Вселенной гораздо больше, чем предполагалось ранееIt turns out that there are at least 10 times more galaxies in the visible Universe than previously thought.

After analyzing the data with the comic telescope NASA the Hubble telescope of the European space Agency and other spacecraft, scientists realized that much mistaken in calculations on the number of galaxies in the Universe.

It turns out that there are at least 10 times more galaxies in the visible Universe than previously thought. The researchers hope that their work will not only help you better understand the process of galaxy formation, but also to solve the eternal astronomical question – why is the sky dark at night.

At the end of the last century, the data of the Hubble telescope indicated that the universe contains about 100 billion galaxies, however, according to a recent study, this figure is underestimated at least 10 times. In addition to modern telescopes of NASA, ESA and other scientists as a material for their work used a new mathematical model allowing to reason about the existence of galaxies that are not visible in telescopes.

It turned out that 90% of the galaxies in the visible Universe is actually too weak and too far below them to consider. The researchers “looked” at 13 billion years in the past and found that the galaxies are unevenly distributed throughout the Universe, and when she was only a few billion years, then then per unit volume accounted for more than 10 galaxies.

As a result, experts concluded that today there is a number of galaxies that each point in the sky contains a part of one of them. However, most remain invisible to the human eye and modern telescopes, so the sky becomes so dark at night.
