Scientists have hypothesized that cosmic rays could be the source of alien life.
All earth organisms, to a greater or lesser extent, fed by solar energy. Some can do it without any help, others needed for this is the work of others.
That is why it has been suggested that on other planets the role of sunlight can take the cosmic radiation. These rays work as a source of essential for hemisynthesis elements, where the role of Sun light are redox reactions. This process involves inorganic substances, which are accumulated from the natural environment. Support for this hypothesis was the bacterium Desulforudis audaxviator, discovered in 2002 that lives without oxygen and sunlight, which is much different from the familiar creatures.
This bacteria need only radioactive rocks, uranium oxide, water, and the thorium and potassium. Desulforudis audaxviator survives even in the case of the disappearance of the Sun and all the stars. On this basis, the researchers can safely assume that this type of organisms quietly exist on other planets.
Earlier life was mistakenly looking for on planets where the atmosphere is very dense and cosmic rays just are unable to get there. Work on the study of this phenomenon continues and promises scientists a lot of interesting discoveries.
