Experts from the field of neuroscience confirm the effectiveness of electrical stimulation of the brain. They argue that this procedure is most effective during sleep.
Thematic edition of Current Biology published a study by Swiss and American scientists, the purpose of which was to study changes in the level of working memory of a person who is under the influence of transkranialna alternating current stimulation (tACS) of the brain parts.
As reported by the publication, for the experiment was selected 16 men who performed two exercises – memorizing a sequence of motor movements and a couple of associations. The first night the brain of the subjects was under the influence of tACS, the second stimulation was fictitious. Every morning the volunteers took a test that describes the level of absorption by the brain to information already received. In remembering word associations experts did not notice any improvements. Despite this, after stimulation of all 16 men showed a better replay of a sequence of operations with motility.
Based on the experience obtained by the specialists hope that the new technology will be applied in the field of integrated treatment of schizophrenia, depressive disorders and Alzheimer’s disease.
