The first Chinese space lab is falling

Первая китайская космическая лаборатория падаетThe Chinese space Agency said that keeps the situation under control.

We already wrote that last week China launched its new space laboratory Tiangong-2″ (heavenly Palace-2), which will replace the previous test module Tiangong-1″ launched in 2011. The new station launched on 16 September, will be used by China to conduct various applied and scientific experiments. In October 2016 the station will arrive two cosmonauts, where they will spend the next 30 days. But what will happen with the old station which was in orbit for more than two years longer than originally planned? Nothing interesting, it decreases slowly.

“Based on our calculations,” says Wu Ping, head of the engineering Department of the Chinese space Agency — most of the old laboratory space will burn up in the process of falling”.

Falling laboratory continue to watch, but the assurances about “most” cause some experts fears: there is every reason to believe that the remaining “smaller part” still can reach the Ground.

The Chinese space Agency declares that it has the situation under control and, if necessary, publish new information about the time and place of the falling debris. The first “heavenly Palace” is now gradually descends from orbit and is currently at an altitude of about 370 kilometers, the weight of the laboratory is about 8 tons.
