The evolution of human nature could affect the high volcanic activity.
High volcanic activity manifested a few hundred thousand years ago in Ethiopia, could affect human evolution. To such conclusion came the geologists, under the leadership of William Hutchinson (William Hutchison) from Oxford University, who published an article in the journal Nature.
As shown by the researchers, the volcanic eruptions have occurred in and around the East African rift valley. The latter is a continental divide, part of which runs through Ethiopia. Nevertheless, the slow split of the continent contributes to the rise of magma.
Geologists have reconstructed the history of eruptions that took place in the heart of the Ethiopian part of the rift, the length of which was 200 kilometers. For this, they have studied volcanoes, Auto and Corbetti determined the age of rocks by using radiocarbon analysis and Dating of isotopes of argon. These data are combined with those that were obtained in the study of the other two rift volcanoes.
It turned out that 320-170 thousand years ago in this region there is a powerful volcanic processes. According to geologists, the eruption happened five times more often than usual. This coincided with the arrival of man in the region of 200 thousand years ago. Volcanic activity has caused significant environmental changes in the areas occupied by Homo sapiense that could greatly affect the evolution of the species.
