What determines human intelligence? Scientists have found that some cognitive functions of the brain depend on the time of year.
In the experiment volunteers four times a year were tested to assess their cognitive ability, attentiveness, and capacity for purposeful activity. The activity of the brain, scientists followed using magnetic resonance imaging.
The experiment showed that the results of testing to the time of year not depend. But the resources of the brain used by the volunteers, were different. For example, overall brain activity was maximum in summer, minimum in winter. Read more in the article “When people get stupid”.
The researchers believe that so manifest a seasonal biorhythms, and they should be explored further.
