“With the new translation feature, we will add in this month, the device will be able to announce the location name and address in the desired language. If you want to get into that restaurant with the unpronounceable name, or read the address of the hotel written in an unknown language, just click the icon next to the name or address and Google Maps will give voice to it,” explains the product Manager of Google Maps Laszlo de Brissac.
According to him, if you want to more mingle with the locals, Google Maps will instantly switch you to Google Translator.
Technology can read text aloud automatically detects the language used on the device, and, in some cases, you may need a translation. For example, if the phone is set to English, and you are looking for Tokyo attractions, next to the name and address of the selected location will be displayed the translation in real time.
This month a new feature will appear in the app for Android and iOS in 50 languages, including Ukrainian. Over time, the list of supported languages promise to expand.
