Archaeologists have discovered an ancient cemetery, Dating back to the era of Roman rule.
In Lebanon, archaeologists have discovered an ancient cemetery. It was found during the work on construction of a new building in the city of Batroun.
Archaeologists representing the General Directorate of Lebanon’s antiquities, announced the discovery, made in the town of Batroun. Here during the construction of the new building of the hotel discovered the ancient cemetery. Scientists said that we are talking about 17 graves with remains of people who lived in the II – III centuries of our era. That is, the graves belong to the time when the territory of today’s Lebanon rules the Roman Empire.
At the moment archaeologists estimate the age of the graves according to his type. All the dead in the graves were in wooden coffins. In addition, the scientists have received “tips” thanks to the found ceramic wares, the coin and the iron ring. The researchers also said that recently, near the ancient cemetery was discovered a necropolis during the Roman Empire. It is assumed that they are a burial ground, parts of which are gradually modern humans.
