Experts have found that by sending messages with a special code, the attackers can force reboot hang or smartphone. This is possible through the overflow of RAM.
The thing is that Telegram users can receive messages even from those contacts that they have in the list. The vulnerability is in the algorithm checks the length of the message to users from “spamming” each other. The length of the message in the Telegram must not exceed 4096 bytes. There is also a restriction on the frequency of sending messages, but the researchers did not specify what kind.
Experts demonstrated the effect of the vulnerability by sending a Telegram on a mobile device, the message length of 30 KB (which significantly exceeds the limit of 4,096 bytes). After this, the gadget is stuck.
