Researchers working with the space telescopes of NASA, suddenly found in the data, “Kepler” several dozen extraordinary stars rotating with great speed and because of this noticeably plushevaya.
Such stars-“pumpkin” radiate a hundred times more x-radiation than the Sun. Exotic luminaries, apparently, could occur at the confluence of two bodies similar to our star. The corresponding article was published in the Astrophysical Journal.
Astronomers investigated using x-ray space telescope, Swift areas of the sky that has previously been observed in the visible range of the space telescope “Kepler”. Managed to find almost a hundred extremely bright x-ray objects, several dozen of which were completely exotic. They are strongly radiated in x-rays, although it looked like a normal star similar to our Sun. In addition, the disk seemed to be slightly flattened.
The most striking example of these stars-“pumpkins” — KSw 71. It is 10.5 times more massive than the Sun, but refers to the spectral class K, which is orange. It is very strange at first glance, because the growth of the mass of the star the temperature of its surface layers increases, that is, its color moves from red and orange to yellow and white. However, KSw 71 it was exactly the opposite: a bright star much more massive than the Sun somehow turned colder and brighter. At the same time in x-rays it produced thousands of times stronger than our star.
The authors studied the repetitive movement spots on the surface of these stars. It turned out that the rotation of such objects abnormally fast. The same KSw 71 makes a full rotation in a week, not a month as our star. The calculations showed that with such a high speed rotation centrifugal force will flatten the Shine, making it look like a pumpkin.
In addition, a star with a normal “life story” just should not be so quick to rotate. Astronomers believe that these objects have acquired an abnormal speed due to the fact that they are the result of the merger of two normal stars, like in the video below.
