The horses have discovered a unique ability.
Norwegian biologists have found that horses can think abstractly and is able to use abstract symbols in order to, for example, ask the owner to cover them with a blanket or remove it.
Note that the brain of horses already for quite a long time studied by scientists. So, for example, about a century ago in Germany there lived a horse named “Clever Hans” which was able to follow the calendar and use simple arithmetic. During their performances, the horse was attukal the correct answers with his hoof. Then, skeptics argued that the horse simply read the secret signs that are invisible to the public was fed animal by its owner.
Currently, researchers from the Norwegian veterinary Institute claim that the horses actually know how to use nonverbal symbols to request something of master.
In order to prove this, scientists have prepared three plates of white colour, on which was drawn a horizontal line, meaning that you need to cover the animal with a blanket, and a vertical line that pointed to the fact that the blanket must be removed. The third card was nothing and it was a signal for inaction, it served as a kind of assessment in order to understand whether the horse to make an informed choice.
The experiment showed that just a few weeks it took to horses in order to understand how to use the cards. On hot days the horses were “asked” to remove the blanket, pointing the muzzle on each card, and on cold days, choosing a card with a horizontal line.
