Scientists know the exact mass of a supermassive black hole of the milky Way

Ученые узнали точную массу сверхмассивной черной дыры Млечного ПутиNow has the most accurate information about the massive black hole in the milky way.

Astrophysics from the USA and Spain had the most accurate to date estimate of the mass of a supermassive black hole which, scientists believe, is the active centre of the milky Way.

The study is published on the website arXiv.org.

Supermassive black hole Sagittarius A*, as follows from the assessment made by scientists, 4.02 ± 0,16 ± 0,04 million times heavier than the Sun. The astronomers also clarified the distance from it to the Ground, which was equal to 7,86 ± 0,14 ± 0.04 kiloparsec.

Their findings are based on photometry of stars with low luminosity orbiting Sagittarius A*, which was carried out in the years 1995-2013.

Supermassive black hole at least a hundred thousand times heavier than the Sun. As a rule, most active centers of large galaxies are objects. They, according to scientists, have a decisive influence on the evolution of large stellar systems. In particular, the centers of the milky Way and the Andromeda galaxy located supermassive black holes, which researchers estimate that approximately four billion years will merge into one.
