Researchers have suspected the presence of cavities in November 2015, when he studied the pyramid with the help of infrared sensors. However, reliable data could be obtained only by examining the structure in more detail. This method was selected muon tomography (“prosvetni”).
The muon has a mass 207 times more than an electron that it is largely similar. In terrestrial conditions, they are born when cosmic rays collide with atoms of gases in the upper atmosphere.
The resulting muons decay almost immediately — in just 2.2 microseconds. They could not reach the surface, if not for their Kolosvetova speed. Because of it they manage to overcome this period of time a great distance.
The idea of muon tomography in the case of a pyramid is that with areas where there are cavities, should come a stronger flow is generated in the atmosphere of the muons, since the air in the cavities flows more muons than basalt blocks that made the pyramid.
Work of this kind was carried out in the 1960’s, however, since the sensitivity of the equipment for tracking of muons increased dramatically.
The researchers argue that the signal indicating the presence of two cavities has a static importance of the above five Sigma, or greater than 99.9999 percent.
It indicates the presence of two areas with a minimum size of several square meters at an altitude of about 100 meters from the ground.
At the same time, a number of archaeologists exposes the significance of the findings into question. They note that the technology of folding a pyramid of blocks could lead to the emergence within it of technical gaps.
That is found cavities can be “hidden rooms,” and the usual defects of large masonry.
