Clash of galaxies “throwing” a black hole in space.
Astronomers have studied the consequence of the collision of two galaxies, in which large galaxy destroyed its smaller neighbor, revealing a supermassive black hole, which was located in its center.
This was reported on the website of the National radio astronomy Observatory.
Galaxy is in the cluster, which is located at a distance of two billion light-years from Earth. Their approach began several million years ago. It led to the complete destruction of the galaxy, which stretches for three thousand light-years. For comparison, the size of the milky Way is 10 thousand light years.
The destruction of the galaxy has led to the fact that a supermassive black hole, which was located in its center, actually were “thrown” into space. The researchers emphasize that it rotates with a speed of over three thousand kilometers per second.
