U.S. scientists from the University of California said that in the Andes is the largest concentration of magma on the planet.
In the Andes found the largest concentration of magma on the Earth. This was reported by experts from the research Centre for Nature Communications.
According to experts, it is located on a vast continental plateau having a diameter of 600 kilometers. Because of the constant eruptions of several small volcanoes, the amount of magma in the cluster has increased for thousands of years. Currently, it covers an area of approximately 450 hectares. Its underground channels are located on the territory of three countries – Argentina, Chile and Bolivia.
Scientists have noted that magma on the plateau began to gather because of the high surface pressure. This molten rock can’t go back into the ground and remain in the form of molten lava.
Experts from the University of California also pointed out that this place is one of the most anomalous on the Ground. Due to the high temperature and high radiation level on the plateau is not functioning most of the controls.
