Oxygen helps to trace the evolution of galaxies.
Published the results obtained after the implementation of new scientific work at the University of California, located in riverside.
They explain the ionization of oxygen under the influence of the hot stars that occurred earlier in the Universe, and how it affected the evolution of galaxies over time.
The astronomers who led the work, was the first to publish the results of the measurements of how to change the intensity of the emission lines of oxygen in the period from 12.5 billion years ago to the present day. From this work we can conclude that the intensity of the line of oxygen that has been ionised twice, increasing while driving back in time. The intensity of the lines once ionized oxygen grew and reached its maximum point of 11 billion years ago, and then was reduced to the period of time of about 1 or 2 billion years ago. The fact that the total amount of oxygen that are in different energy States, has changed, resulted in the reorganization of physiological conditions inside the galaxies, where the star formation.
These findings will be very useful for laying the scientific foundations of target observations that will happen in the future with the help of telescopes, allowing to study the internal conditions zvezdoobrazovaniya galaxies. A striking example of this is the telescope “James Webb”.
