Scientists have estimated the temperature of the neutron star

Ученые оценили температуру нейтронной звездыA typical neutron star has roughly the same mass as the Sun.

Astrophysics from the USA, Canada, Mexico, the Netherlands and the UK estimated the temperature of the neutron star.

The temperature of the core of KS 1731-260 object reaches 93.5 million Kelvin. According to scientists, the inner (core) and surface (cortex) part of the neutron star remote from the Earth at a distance of 23 million light years in the constellation Ophiuchus, are in thermal equilibrium with each other.

These data were obtained in August 2015 at the space telescope Chandra, and confirm earlier estimates of the physical characteristics of KS 1731-260.

Monitoring in 2001 found that the surface temperatures of KS 1731-260 is three million degrees Kelvin. A small value of the parameter is due to the fact that the light is, most likely, was until 1988 in an inactive state. Astronomers believe that the Universe may contain a large number of such objects.

A typical neutron star has roughly the same mass as the Sun, while its diameter is about 10-20 kilometers. The core of the star consists of neutrons, a thin crust of atomic nuclei and electrons. The gravitational collapse of a celestial body inhibit nuclear forces.
