American researchers have established a link between women’s figure and success in your career.
A new study by scientists from the University of Alabama in Birmingham, USA have shown that more slender women are more willing to take on the job.
In the experiment, employers were asked to choose two images of one and the same person, one of which was edited to reflect changes in appearance – such as the increase in the size and thickness of the neck, cheeks and the width of the face.
Despite the fact that the two images of women were depicted with BMI, which was within the healthy range, employers preferred more bad candidates.
The situation with the men’s floors looked different. Employers were not disturbed by changes in appearance of men, and their solution in General is not affected by external factors such as the fullness or thinness of the candidate.
“Our study shows that especially for women, the greater their BMI, the less chances of successful interviews. The results of this study are deeply disturbing from the point of view of gender equality in the workplace. We found that women with a BMI within the healthy range, but apparently with more rounded forms, are often confronted with prejudices regarding their weight, especially in comparison with men, obvious overweight which is perceived as the norm in a production environment. We are faced with the very real stigma about the weight of women, who, as it turns out, can actually reduce a woman’s chances of a successful career,” commented the study authors.
