Opening physicists will certainly help create a light ultra-fast computers and displays.
Interesting news came from two scientific institutions – Technological University Toyohashi and MSU employees who have found a way to control the speed of propagation of light in the environment.
This discovery will be the basis for the development of various sensors, supercomputers and three-dimensional screens. The staff of these universities, who worked on a joint project, managed to achieve almost instantaneous polarization and the change of the speed of light.
The system, consisting of a tape of crystals and optoisolators, provides delay of light propagation. Interesting is the fact that the calculations which formed the basis of this system, were made in the 19th century, and to create the device it took 15 years of hard work.
At the moment the practical use of this effect is impossible, but it will definitely be the Foundation on which you will create in the future a variety of devices, such as holographic data storage, three-dimensional displays, super computers or high-speed mobile gadgets.
