According to researchers, the dinosaur was the first marine herbivorous lizard.
In China scientists found a skeleton of a dinosaur that ate only vegetation. This was told by one of the world’s scientific journals.
As it became known, prehistoric animal the size of a large crocodile lived 245 million years ago and, according to experts, was the first “vegetarian” among dinosaurs. The lizard had already given the name — Atopodentatus unicus. Its generic name means “sternotomy”.
According to the study researchers, the skull of the beast was very small, its length was only 18% of the total body. This reptile first described two years ago, discovered the remains of a perfectly preserved skull allowed scientists to understand how and what to eat the lizard.
Experts believe that this discovery may ultimately shed light on the mass extinction of the dinosaurs, which occurred 252 million years ago.
