Off the coast of Tanzania found “African Atlantis”.
On the coast of Tanzania discovered the ruins, which may be the remains of the ancient African city of Rapana
Rapana – about 2 thousand years ago was an important transportation and commercial hub, and 1600 years ago have disappeared from the face of the earth. Archaeologists believe that the city was flooded.
The ruins were discovered by diver Alan Sutton. The ruins occupy a large area, scattered with blocks of stone square and rectangular shapes. The blocks are different sizes – some of them have five-meter length and a thickness of about 40 cm.
Professor of archaeology Felix Chama from the University of Dar-es-Salaam believes that these ruins may be the remnants of Rapten – “African Atlantis”. The scientist said that while it’s just a theory, and its confirmation is necessary to identify other artifacts.
