Scientists have found many fragments of pottery, stone tools and animal bones
In the Odessa region, near the village of Stone, archaeologists found what they believe was the oldest residential house in the region.
According to “Duma”, the remains of a structure that existed between 5250 and 5050 years before the new era, constitute an elongated hole with a length of more than 20 meters. In it, researchers found many fragments of pottery, stone tools and animal bones and pieces of clay coating of the walls. In parallel with a large hole revealed the trench also with blood vessels and coating.
All this gives grounds to assume that the detected stationary housing, a so — called long house, which is the main type of structures of culture linear band pottery. These houses was a rectangular construction with a width of 5 to 7 meters and a length of 20 to 50 m
The walls usually were of wattle, covered with clay and reinforced with oak pillars. Roof with a pitch covered with straw, supported also by pillars. Inside the house was divided by partitions into two or three parts. One was used for cattle.
