On election day in Montenegro was arrested 20 Serbs for the intention to attack the members of the government.
In Montenegro, where parliamentary elections are held today, they arrested twenty of the Serbs, who suspected that they were preparing armed attacks on official institutions after the closure of polling stations. It is reported BBC citing local police.
“The detained men were going to attack with automatic weapons on government agencies, police and possibly members of the government”, – said the chief of police, Slavko Stojanovic.
According to him, those arrested are accused of “forming a criminal organization and terrorism.” Reported 20 detainees. Another Serb is wanted, said Stojanovic.
As noted by the BBC, today’s elections in the Republic of Montenegro against the backdrop of the controversy surrounding the government’s attempts to strengthen the connection of Montenegro with the West.
There are concerns that after the announcement of results may occur clashes between supporters of the Pro-Western government and Pro-Russian opposition.
Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic of the Democratic party of socialists is a supporter of membership of Montenegro in NATO and the EU. In opposition to his team are Pro-Russian and Pro-Serbian organization.
Mr đukanović said that he expects Montenegro, “stable and dynamic progress towards European and Euro-Atlantic goals,” and does not want his country to become “a Russian colony”. However, many Montenegrins tend to have their country returned to its traditional ally, Russia.
