There are concerns that after the announcement of results may occur clashes between supporters of the Pro-Western government and Pro-Russian opposition.

Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic of the Democratic party of socialists is a supporter of membership of Montenegro in NATO and the EU. In opposition to his team are Pro-Russian and Pro-Serbian organization.

Mr đukanović said that he expects Montenegro, “stable and dynamic progress towards European and Euro-Atlantic goals,” and does not want his country to become “a Russian colony”. However, many Montenegrins tend to have their country returned to its traditional ally, Russia.
