Sword handed over to the Agency for cultural heritage of Iceland.
In the South of Iceland five hunters the geese found the sword of the Vikings, the age of which was estimated at more than a thousand years.
The finder of the sword, the hunters assume that he was on the earth’s surface as a result of recent flooding.
One of them published a photo of the sword was found on his page in Facebook.
Soon he got a call from Agency for cultural heritage of Iceland, which is August 5 morning was transferred to the artifact.
It is also reported that the sword is quite well preserved. According to experts, in Iceland, was previously found only 20 swords of the same age, making it a significant finding.
One of the hunters who found the sword, said the publication of Iceland Monitor that can detect it was not difficult – “he was just lying there, waiting until somebody will pick up”.
Presumably, the sword was made not later than X century and may have been placed in a pagan grave.
