Back in 2000 in the canadian province of British Columbia has landed a unique meteorite.
Scientists believe that the cosmic body that passed a greater distance, was once part of the Kuiper belt (the asteroid belt, located near the orbit of Neptune).
In 2000 in Canada was a meteorite, the diameter of which initially amounted to more than five meters. As overcome the protective mass of the Earth a celestial body consisting mainly of ice, had evaporated, and it was only a small solid core. The remains of the meteorite the scientists examined, but its chemical composition was far from the previously checked “relatives”.
“These meteorites seldom fall to the Ground as are too far. Most likely, the outer body belonged to the Kuiper belt,” – said one of the experts.
