A group of scientists from Germany and France turned the satellite images into three-dimensional “map” of the most famous mountains in the world.
The researchers say their work will help not only their colleagues, but also professional conquerors of vertices, snowboarders and people who want to enjoy the beautiful views.
The project started back in 2010, when a group of scientists from Germany tried to involve their colleagues from France and other countries, but the idea seemed unpromising. The Germans did not despair and began to work independently. A couple of years, their colleagues from France changed their minds and offered their assistance.
Through the efforts of two teams of scientists, assisted by the Airbus Group, the project was completed. He is a three-dimensional map of the 13 most famous mountains of the world, including Everest, Denali, kaylas, Nandadevi and many others.
Scientists say, their work will be useful not only to their colleagues but also to ordinary people who want to experience the beauty of nature. The researchers believe that professional climbers will also thank them. In addition, the map updated in real time, therefore, the slightest change will be recorded.
