According to the study, because of climate change, some species can “migrate”.
A team of biologists from the Wisconsin and Aarhus universities in Denmark and Madison found out the degree of influence of climatic changes on populations of plants of various kinds.
The research appeared in popular science edition of Nature Climate Change.
In the course of the study, the biologists studied the history of climate change in the 112-year period, beginning in 1901. They took into account a number of specific factors, such as the emergence of new climatic conditions and the speed with which changes the climate.
According to the results, climate change contributes to migration process, which involves certain types of plants. While some of them are easy to adapt to new conditions, and the other is much harder to do.
Experts have found a new location migratory species of plants. According to them, they will appear in the temperate forest, USA, in the Northern part of the Great plains and in the Amazon, Africa, South American pampas and the North woods. Thus, if climate change continues, these associations spread over large areas.
On the alleged scientists, different types of plants in the near future will undergo redistribution in the formation of new communities in the unusual geographical areas.
