China can by 2030 to create a global quantum communication network

Китай может к 2030 году создать глобальную сеть квантовой связи

China can by 2030 to create a global quantum communication network, said academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences pan, tsaneva.

China on Tuesday at 1.40 am local time (20.40 GMT Monday) successfully launched the world’s first satellite quantum communication Mo-zi (Micius) from the spaceport of Jiuquan in Gansu province. The start was made with the help of the carrier rocket “Changzheng-2D”.

“If China is going to send into orbit more satellites quantum communication, we can expect about 2030 to create a global network of quantum communication”, – quotes the Xinhua news Agency the words of the pan Canwea.

Earlier the pan, tsengwa said that in case of a successful launch for the first time in the world to be installed quantum communication between the satellite and the object on the Ground. In addition, according to him, in the second half of this year is planned commissioning of the quantum communication line between Beijing and Shanghai.

The length of the line will be more than 2 thousand kilometers. China began developing a satellite quantum communication in 2011, and the project lines of communication between Beijing and Shanghai began in 2013.

According to analysts interviewed by the newspaper National Business Daily, in case of successful implementation of the project lines of communication and quantum communication can in the future be widely used by government, financial institutions, operators of TV.

According to analysts, in the next five years could see the market with the use of quantum communication which will reach more than 50 billion yuan (7.5 billion U.S. dollars).

From the beginning of XX century, scientists are developing methods of encryption and secure information transfer. They have two key weaknesses – they can be broken upon application of sufficient computing power (e.g., quantum computer), or information can be retrieved by “overhearing” her transmission on the data channel.

The so-called quantum networks solve both these problems due to the fact that the Heisenberg’s uncertainty principle does not allow “third superfluous” to read information from the data channel and to find the key for it.
