At the bottom of the Pacific ocean have discovered an unknown form of life

На дне Тихого океана обнаружили неизвестные формы жизниBiodiversity is associated with the uniqueness of the environment — abundance of manganese nodules.

Scientists have found that deep-sea plain, called zone Clarion-Clipperton (CCZ), replete with previously unknown life forms. This was reported in the journal Scientific Reports.

Abyssal plain CCZ lies on several million square kilometers between the coast of California and the Hawaiian Islands. Its depth is about four thousand meters, there is almost no light, and the temperature is only slightly above zero Celsius.

However, the CCZ is rich in rare earth metals as well as Nickel and cobalt. Before large-scale mining plain decided to explore oceanographers.

Hired by the mining company UK Seabed Resources, the scientists found on the surface of the CCZ 12 samples of living beings (during the expedition, 2013). Seven of them were generally unknown to science, and the two represent not just a new species but a new genus or even family. According to scientists, this biodiversity is linked to the uniqueness of the environment — abundance of manganese nodules.
