Archaeologists have used two devices with a remote control for shooting and scanning of the seabed at a depth of 1.8 thousand meters. One of them was doing 3D pictures in high resolution, while the second bore projectors, laser scanners and cameras, and also collected terrain data.
“The main task of our project was to conduct geophysical surveys to detect burial sites ships, as well as to collect data that would tell us about the history of the Black sea”, — said the head of the expedition, Professor John Adams.
The researchers obtained details of the plating of the crashed ships and filmed their skeletons. Archaeologists say that due to the low oxygen content of the ships belonging to the ancient era, perfectly preserved. Searches were carried out in accordance with the map of ancient routes, which connected the Byzantine Empire with neighboring States.
