Its magnitude is only 0.001 per cent of the milky Way.
An international group of scientists have discovered a galaxy from the early Universe. Today it is the most dim of all known astronomers.
To see it, experts have used the W. M. Keck Observatory, located on top of a mountain, Maunakea in Hawaii. This is a ten-meter telescope, which is the most powerful in the world.
The discovery was made using the DEIMOS instrument, which was installed on the telescope. Scientists suggest that the newly discovered galaxy was immediately after the Big Bang.
It is also reported that the new galaxy was found behind the galaxy cluster MACS2129.4-0741.
“The only way in which it is possible to see this galaxy is gravitational lensing. It allows you to identify such a remote space object as a normal galaxy within sight of the Universe,” – said the chief researcher of the University of California.
The principle of gravitational lensing is that the visibility of the object increases by the force of gravity from another object located between it and the observer.
