Astronomers have discovered an unusual brown dwarf, the day which lasts just 17 minutes, making it the fastest of its kind.
The rotation speed of the extrasolar planets are difficult to explain from the point of view of modern theories, the researchers report in an article published in the Astrophysical Journal Letters.
Scientists engaged in the study of brown dwarfs, opened with the help of a telescope WISE. During the research they noticed an unusual dwarf”pulsar” J1122+25. The object is located at a distance of 55 light-years from Earth in the constellation Leo, its mass exceeds the mass of Jupiter is 25 times. Surface temperature J1122+25 is around 726 degrees Celsius.
Analysis of bursts of radio emission showed that the planet rotates around its axis 17, or 34, or 51, rotates much faster than other brown dwarfs.
A quick rotation of an object means that it has the strongest magnetic field, whose origins, researchers still can’t explain.
