Astronomers have discovered an alternative Solar system

Astronomers announced the presence of the star Kepler-223 four exoplanets, which are in orbital resonance with each other (that is, periods of their circulation around the sun are related as natural numbers). A study published in the online edition of the scientific journal Nature.

Scientists think that exoplanetary system around Kepler-223 similar to the early Solar system. In particular, about the same earlier, could move gas giants Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune. Unlike the Solar system around Kepler-223 no terrestrial planets and super-earths (exoplanets, which are up to ten times larger than the Earth) are close to its sun.

The system around Kepler-223 is much older than Sunny, however, it is believed, preserved the ancient character of the movement of exoplanets. Four heavenly bodies have a solid core and a gaseous shell. Extrasolar planets revolve around Kepler-223 with periods from 7 to 19 days.

The first two inner planets are in orbital resonance of 4:3, the second and third is 3:2, two external 4:3. Previously, astronomers observed the system with two or three exoplanets in resonance, but the first time they announced the opening of the orbital resonance among the four exoplanets.

According to scientists, the mechanism of formation of the system around Kepler-223 is not like the one that occurred in the Solar system. It has four gas giant came out of the exact orbital resonance due to the interaction with the planetesimals, while the heavenly bodies around Kepler-223 managed to avoid it.
