The marble statue was created by sculptor from Rome.
American archaeologists have discovered fragments of two marble statues of the goddess Aphrodite in the ancient city of Petra in Jordan.
This is stated in a press release published on the website of the University of North Carolina.
Parts of the sculpture were found in the Northern part of the city during the excavations of the ancient Villa. In addition, the researchers found the statue of the God Cupid are relatively well preserved. Missing pieces — head and upper limbs — researchers have restored from the fragments.
The marble statue was created by sculptor from Rome. Their style has allowed experts to figure out the details of the influence of the Roman Empire annexed it in 106 ad the Nabataean Kingdom. According to scientists, locals are easily assimilated and have adopted another culture, like you did before, side by side with Ancient Egypt.
Archaeologists also found many other artifacts that shed light on the everyday life of the Nabataeans. Scientists have unearthed one house and three underground tombs where found items for cooking and food storage, ceramic shards, animal bones, iron sword, oil lamps and human remains with jewelry.
