Sales of Guitar Hero Live do not match the predictions.
Publisher Activision has announced that the developers of Guitar Hero were Live firing. Studio FreeStyle Games will be restructured and “will remain great partner” of the Corporation. According to Eurogamer, the Studio left about fifty people, and on Guitar Hero Live worked a little over one hundred.
“The heads of Activision and FreeStyle Games had pondered the future possibilities of the Studio and consulted with staff in the search for alternatives, said Activision in a letter to MCV. In the end, the team decided to restructure FreeStyle Games, to more intelligently allocate available resources in accordance with the plans for the future.”
Sales of Guitar Hero Live, as well as SuperChargers and Skylanders, Activision has been “lower than expected”. The publisher associates it with the casual audience transition from consoles to mobile devices, as well as increasing competition. This is not the first time in the Studio FreeStyle are firing a few employees left in February.
