Rumor: Possible EA Sports College Football Release Date Leaked

Release date reports surface concerning the long-awaited return of the EA Sports College Football franchise, which is slated to launch this year.

According to a recent online report, EA Sports College Football is rumored to launch on July 12, 2024. However, some conflicting information from other sources suggests the date might not be entirely accurate. Fans of the series have been eagerly awaiting its return after a decade-long hiatus. Formerly known as NCAA Football, EA Sports announced the return of college football games back in 2021 for both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S consoles.

Fans have been hungry for a new entry, so much so that NCAA Football 14 has skyrocketed in price years after its initial release. With an active modding community, NCAA Football 14 is the only game in town when it comes to playing college football with updated rosters but admittedly dated graphics on previous-gen hardware. That said, the wait should soon be over for those looking to get their hands on a current-gen version.

David Waters, host of the Gators Breakdown podcast, reports that EA Sports College Football is slated to be released on July 12, 2024. However, Matt Brown of the Extra Point newsletter claims that two of his sources from EA have declined to confirm the precise date. Still, Brown asserts that July is the target release month from what he has heard, “so this could be correct.” EA Sports has also responded to the rumors, simply stating that an official release date announcement has yet to be made.

Historically speaking, early to mid-July is a solid guess when it comes to a potential release date for EA Sports College Football. Madden typically targets a mid-August launch, so July would give the publisher ample time between releases. The last entry in the NCAA Football series was released on July 9, 2013, and the previous two entries before it arrived on July 12 and July 10 respectively.

With EA Sports College Football reaching an agreement for player likenesses, a major legal hurdle has been cleared as the game looks to be released at some point this summer. Licensing was a major issue for the franchise when it sported the NCAA moniker, ultimately causing the series to shut down. Still, even with the franchise returning, it remains to be seen just how many student-athletes opt-in to having their likeness used in the upcoming game.

EA Sports College Football looks to bring back Dynasty Mode according to recent reports. The fan-favorite game mode where players can take control of their favorite programs is rumored to be the main focus of the upcoming title. Additionally, it is reported that Road To Glory, a mode in which gamers can create their own player and progress through their collegiate career, is also set to return.
