According to a new study, drinking lots of water can help make you healthier and slimmer.
Researchers from the University of Illinois, has studied the eating habits of more than 18300 American adults and found that increased daily consumption of plain water by 1% is associated with a decrease calorie consumption and saturated fats, sugars, sodium, and cholesterol.
People who increased daily water consumption for one, two or three cups, reduced the total amount of energy consumed on 68-205 calories and sodium on 78-235 grams. In addition, they were used for 5 to 18 grams less sugar and daily consumption of cholesterol decreased by 7-20 grams.
“Data from our study indicate that increased water intake can be a simple and effective way to fight obesity and improve health in General”, concluded the researchers.
The study was published in the “Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics”.
