The models will have versions with hybrid and electric propulsion systems.
Volvo has introduced prototypes 40.1 and 40.2. The concepts are the precursors of the compact crossover XC40 and the V40 hatchback, respectively. Premiere of the prototype took place at a special event in Gothenburg.
The concepts are equipped with optics in the style of “Hammer of Thor” and large air intakes. New products are built on the platform of the CMA, developed jointly with the Chinese company Geely. On this same architecture will create a younger and sedan in the lineup, which likely will be named S40. Conceptual hatchback 40.2 is driven by an electric motor. The power reserve of the machine is 350 miles.
The prototype crossover 40.1 hybrid powerplant. In was composed of the 1.6-litre petrol three-cylinder engine, electric motor and seven-speed robotic gearbox. The total capacity of the machine was about 250 horsepower. On one electric crossover can travel up to 50 kilometers. Serial version called XC40 in the lineup of the car will take place on the step below the XC60. The main competitors crossover will be BMW X1 and Audi Q3.
In parallel, Volvo continues the test of the XC60 crossover new generation. The premiere of the car will take place next year. Later will be presented and a sports version of the new items under the name of Polestar.
