XC40 will get a hybrid powerplant.
Volvo has started tests of a new compact crossover XC40. Photospin managed to shoot the car during road tests. The premiere of the serial version of a novelty will take place in 2018.
While spy photos show a test mule in the back of the V40 on which the company’s engineers run in units of future models. The prototype differs extended wheel arches, increased ground clearance and large alloy wheels.
The novelty will be built on the platform of the CMA, co-developed with parent company Geely. On this same architecture will create a younger and sedan in the lineup, which likely will be named S40. Note that for a long time the decision on the release of the vehicle was not taken due to the lack of a suitable platform. In the engine range of the car will include three – and four-cylinder engines. Also XC40 will get a hybrid powerplant. Other technical details are still kept secret.
In parallel, Volvo continues to test a new generation of crossover XC60. The premiere of the car will take place next year. Later will be presented and a sports version of the new items under the name of Polestar.
