Volkswagen will develop a new seven-seat SUV

Company Volkswagen plans to develop a new seven-seat SUV. The car will be built based on the pickup Amarok. This is with reference to the Director of the division of commercial vehicles of the group: Carlos Santos reports Motoring.

“At the moment we are serious of developing a new SUV on the basis of Amarok, which will be the largest passenger car” — said Santos.

The car will get a 3.0-litre diesel V6 turbo engine. The dynamic characteristics of the machine are still unknown. The same motor is installed on the upgraded pickup Amarok.

Another seven-seat crossover Volkswagen will be presented at the end of this year. The car will receive name Teramont. Initially, the crossover is designed for the North American market. Will there be a car in other countries is still unknown. Assembly of the SUV will be manufactured at the plant in Chattanooga (Tennessee), where now produce the Passat for the American market. The main competitors of new items will be Toyota Highlander, Honda Pilot and Ford Explorer.

According to unofficial data, in the range of engines will include four – and six-cylinder petrol turbo engine. It is also expected the emergence of a 3.6-litre V6, which now comes with the Passat for the American market. The engine power is 280 horsepower. Later the car will get four-cylinder 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine. Also do not rule out the emergence of hybrid modification of the crossover.
